I'm currently a second-year master’s student in Classics, working on Roman religious practices in the first century CE, natural language processing (NLP) in Latin and Greek, and developing a new site for the collections at the Wilcox Classical Museum.
My thesis focuses on the changing attitudes to the lares and the genii in the first century CE. There has been a significant dearth of scholarship on this facet of Roman religion in this period with most publications narrowing their focus on the Republican Period, Augustan Age, or late empire. In this thesis, I aim to fill this gap by examining literature from the Neronian and Flavian periods to better understand how the cultural values surrounding the lares and the genii and their perceptions may have shifted after Augustus' major religious reforms.
